STAFF POSITIONS
SF STATION: Literary Arts Editor (2001–2003)
As Literary Arts Editor, I created and maintained an online listing of Bay Area
literary events, producing book reviews, feature articles and poetry reading
reviews, researching and listing open mics, workshops, readings and other
special events, managing a staff of writers, recruiting new talent and
updating the website weekly.
OUTjOCK MEDIA, LLC: Managing Editor (2001–2003)
For this sports, health and fitness magazine aimed at the queer community,
I worked with the magazine founders, interviewing and hiring employees, creating
an editorial calendar, planning content and managing a staff of writers.
MYPLEASURE: Editor (2001–2002)
I crafted sexual health and instructional articles, interviews,
educational quizzes and features for this upscale adult-toy
store dedicated to providing the finest shopping experience
possible. I also wrote and edited web copy, press releases,
marketing collateral and email newsletters, creating and
applying the company's voice with an even, steady hand.
ABOUT.COM: Associate Guide (2000–2002)
Renowned sexologist Dr. P. Sàndor Gardos was the
Guide for About's Sexuality site, one of the many award-winning
pages in About's online empire. As Associate Guide, I assisted
Dr. Gardos in all aspects of running the Sexuality site, writing bimonthly feature articles, researching listings,
updating links, moderating the forum, writing newsletters and
developing additional content.
MOBSHOP, INC.: Editorial Manager (1999–2000)
At MobShop, I coordinated the writing efforts of the marketing,
merchandising, technology and engineering departments. I
also wrote and edited online content, press releases, promotional
copy, marketing copy, customer and internal newsletters,
customer and company policies, human resources materials,
internal communications and investor presentations. Two
of my notable projects included producing the company’s
change in name from Accompany to MobShop and launching a
company-wide project defining corporate style.
