In case you hadn't guessed by now, I'm an editor and writer. My special talent is looking at a thing--a garden, a press release, a dachshund, a novel-- and understanding not only what it wants to be, but also how to get it there. I can also do this with people, but I've been asked not to.
I'll work on any kind of project that interests me, but I specialize in a few areas:
Admissions essays, cover letters and resumes, especially for job-hunters who want to change careers or industries. From what I'm told, my resumes help my clients get jobs, some of them pretty darned good ones.
I genuinely love marketing and web copy assignments. I'm intrigued by the challenge of not only engaging the reader, but also communicating information, company messaging, market positioning and a compelling call to action. Each assignment is a fun little puzzle.
A good press release will function as a "marketing resume": a clearly presented chunk of information that compels someone to action. I've written about 300 press releases for amazing clients in a truly bizarre assortment of industries, from real estate to sex.
Fiction & nonfiction manuscripts, poetry, marketing, websites, feature articles & newsletters, public relations...really, anything important that needs fixing.
My master's degree is in Creative Writing, so I do a bit of that. I've also written a couple of lifestyle nonfiction books. And then there are all those Internet feature articles...
