While waiting on line to pay for a rescue dog at a Los Angeles County shelter, our volunteer noticed a lady approaching the counter to surrender her dachshund into the shelter. They struck up a conversation, and when our volunteer learned the dog’s fate, she asked the lady if she would turn Mia over to us rather than leave her at the shelter. The lady readily agreed.
