Paws at the Coffee Mill, a gift store for animal lovers located in Huntington Beach’s historic Old World Village, hosts dachshund races on the the third Sunday of the month from January to Oktoberfest at the beginning of November. This year, the March races are two weekends before Easter, on Sunday, March 21.
Missy and McGruff were given up by their previous owner because he was a full-time college student and didn’t have the time to care for this wonderful pair of one-year-old doxie puppies.
While waiting on line to pay for a rescue dog at a Los Angeles County shelter, our volunteer noticed a lady approaching the counter to surrender her dachshund into the shelter. They struck up a conversation, and when our volunteer learned the dog’s fate, she asked the lady if she would turn Mia over to us rather than leave her at the shelter. The lady readily agreed.
