About West Coast Insurance
Founded in 1938, West Coast Insurance is headquartered in
San Diego and is the nation's 14th largest auto, property and
life insurer. WCI has 20 offices in 12 states, managing 3,500
employees and over 7,000 independent agents. The company has
over 2.5 million policies in force; gross policy revenue is
approximately $2 billion annually. WCI maintains two technical
teams at its headquarters in San Diego, plus a small
operations team at its Seattle data center. The total staff
includes 38 system administrators, twelve dispersed operations
staff and six webmasters. WCI also uses contractors as needed
in regional or local offices. WCI leverages the Internet for
its dispersed agent network and customer self-service, and
estimates that an hour of downtime costs the company roughly
$50,000 in troubleshooting efforts and lost
business. |
