With a slim, streamlined profile and ergonomic hand controls, this in-line camera was designed for professional shooting. The 3.5" 200,000-pixel polycrystalline-silicon TFT LCD color monitor displays stunning high-resolution images while you film, allowing you a clear view of your subject. If you prefer to shoot with the monitor closed, the 110,000-pixel color viewfinder displays the scene in full color for easy aiming. The lens hood blocks glare when you’re shooting under bright sunlight, optimizing your view of the subject and allowing you a true picture of what you’re filming. Power-linked operation powers up the camera as soon as you open the monitor or pull out the viewfinder, then shuts off the camera automatically, saving battery power. The camcorder uses MiniDV format, the current industry standard for camcorders. Digital image stabilizer eliminates shaking and tremors, and PCM Digital Stereo Audio allows crystal-clear 32 and 48 kHz sound recording.

One of the most striking features of this camcorder is its amazing image resolution. Unlike most video cameras, the 680,000-Pixel Progressive Scan CCD allows the camcorder to record an entire frame in one scan, ensuring there is no frame blurring, even while you pause in taping. The progressive color filter generates a pure signal from each scanning line, increasing color sensitivity and boosting vertical resolution to 480 lines. The high-band processor calculates and restores the high-band components of the luminance signal normally lost in conventional processing, ensuring an extremely high horizontal resolution of 520 lines. Progressive mode video recording allows you freeze any frame in playback and send a superior quality image to your PC or printer using three selectable image size settings: UXGA (1600 x 1200) for printing, XGA (1024 x 768) for color computer monitors, or VGA (640 x 480) for email attachments.

JVC’s new AIS lens (Accurate Image Shift) uses superior quality optics, including two aspherical lenses multi-coated to reduce ghosting and flaring, two independent optical low-pass filters optimized for moving pictures and stills, and the AIS’s signature feature: micron-precise image-shift technology that doubles the image data that can be sampled by the CCD. Working in tandem, the AIS lens and 680,000-Pixel Progressive Scan CCD make possible the camcorder’s advanced UXGA (1600 x 1200) 1.92 Megapixel Digital Still with Pixel Shift Technology. In this mode, each image is first sampled with all the pixels in the usual locations, then double-exposed within a split second, shifting the image diagonally by 1/2-pixel, which generates a UXGA-sized picture with 1600 x 1200-pixel resolution—the same 1.92 megapixel image size only the highest grade (and most expensive) digital still cameras have been capable of producing.

A wide range of pro-style digital effects—including black & white, sepia, strobe, twilight, fades and wipes—allows you to maximize your creativity. The 300x Super Digital Zoom with Spline Interpolation, Progressive Super Wide feature, Playback Digital Zoom and Dual Shooting Modes enable you to control your image size, expanding and contracting your field of view for the specific image you want.
